Strictly Speaking - What does a sentence require?

  • Have a subject (noun or pronoun).

  • Have a predicate (verb or verb phrase).

  • Express a complete thought.

What is a Subject

  • The subject of a sentence is the person or thing that DOES THE ACTION.

  • In most sentences (that are active voice), the subject appears early in the sentence. 

  • The puppy jumped into the car.

  • My friend Matt drives a nice car
