What is conjugation?

When we conjugate verbs, we change them so that the verb agrees with the subject. In English, we often refer to it as subject-verb agreement. ​Below is the conjugation of the verb "to be" in English.

Som​e verbs are "irregular" which means they don't follow any conjugation patterns. you have to memorize each form individually. We've already learned one of the most important French verbs, être (to be), and it is an irregular verb.

Most French verbs are "regular" verbs which mean they follow certain patterns when changing them to match the subject pronouns.

There are three types of regular verbs: "er" "ir" and "re"
