​Some Key Facts to help you achieve your GCSE target grade

​The Numerator (top number) is SMALLER than the Denominator (bottom number)

​​Proper Fraction

​The Numerator (top number) is GREATER than the Denominator (bottom number)

​​Improper Fraction

​

​A Mixed Number contains a Whole Number (an Integer) and a Proper Fraction.

​​Mixed Number

​

​When dividing Fractions we:

1) Keep the first fraction as it is written​

2) Flip (turn upside down or invert the second fraction

3) Change the divide sign to Multiply (X)

4) They Multiply the top numbers​ (Numerators)

​5) Then Multiply the bottom numbers (Denominators)

​6) Simplify if asked to do so

​Prime Numbers

​A Prime Number is a number with only TWO different factors, the number 1 and itself.

Prime Numbers cannot be negative.

The number 2 is therefore the LOWEST Prime Number and also the only even Prime Number.
