INTRODUCTION
What are cars? 2. How long have they been on our roads? 3. What is my essay about?
Cars are machines that we use to go quickly to our destination. If you look at the history of cars, you will see that they have been on our roads for over 100 years. Although many cars have petrol engines, some cars are electric. In this essay, I will discuss what their similarities and differences are.

COMPARISON ESSAY
The body
The comparison essay only has one body, so you do not need to write a topic sentence. If you write a problem/solution essay, you need TWO topic sentences because the essay has two body paragraphs.

First, both of them need power. However, they get power from different sources. Electric cars use electricity that is stored in batteries, which means no oil or petrol is burned. As a result, they do not directly create pollution such as CO2, NOx, and SO2.

COMPARISON ESSAY
NOW COMPARE
We are still talking about the SAME idea, which is power.
Use CRETE in your supporting sentences as much as you can!

Multiple Choice
_____ electric cars, petrol engines burn oil and petrol to get power, which means that they _____ pollution directly.
Unlike / do not make
In addition, / do not make
Unlike / make
In addition / make

First, both of them need power. However, they get power from different sources. Electric cars use electricity that is stored in batteries, which means no oil or petrol is burned. As a result, they do not directly create pollution such as CO2, NOx, and SO2. Unlike electric cars, petrol engines burn oil and petrol to get power, which means that they create pollution directly.
19
Now I am going to write about my other ideas. These are: 2nd) noise 3rd) maintenance.
20
Second, they both make a noise. However, the noise they make is not equal. Electric cars take their power from a battery, and there are fewer moving parts in the engine. As a consequence, these cars are very quiet. For example, my friend has a Telsa. When I stand next to it, I struggle to hear its engine. In contrast, petrol cars burn petrol, so there are lots of small explosions in their engines and many things are moving. As a result, they are much noisier than electric cars. Third, both cars need maintenance. However, electric cars do not have complicated engines. It means that they do not need much maintenance. Unlike electric cars, a petrol engine needs a lot of servicing because it is complex. Consequently, the maintenance costs for cars that have petrol engines are higher than the maintenance costs for electric cars.

THE COMPLETE ESSAY
Cars are machines that we use to go quickly to our destination. If you look at the history of cars, you will see that they have been on our roads for over 100 years. Although many cars have petrol engines, some cars are electric. In this essay, I will discuss what their similarities and differences are.
However, electric cars do not have complicated engines, so they do not need much maintenance. Unlike electric cars, a petrol engine needs a lot of servicing because it is complex. Consequently, the maintenance costs for cars that have petrol engines are higher than the maintenance costs for electric cars.
In summary, electric cars and petrol cars share a lot in common, but they also differ, too. I hope that more people buy electric cars because they are probably better for the environment.
