Poll
Which is the purpose of having class policies?
To help us understand and respect limits
To make things harder
Because the teacher wants to
13
• Is important to be respectful towards your teachers and classmates.
Students must avoid calling names, cursing, or use any kind of verbal
and nonverbal language (English or Spanish) to offend someone
inside or outside the classroom.
• Since this is a class imparted in English, class participation, activities,
homework and projects, must be developed in this language.
• Punctuality is a very important value. Being late to class, meetings or
tutoring sessions is disrespectful for both students and teachers,
therefore anyone arriving after the roll has been called, will have an
absence.
•Tolerance 8:10 am
• We have to make our classroom a proper environment for learning
and sharing knowledge, therefore food or snacks are totally forbidden
during classtime since these could keep us distracted from our main
goal.
• Plagiarism or its attempt, is a very serious fault. Please consider that
all cases of this nature will be reported with a FIA in your student´s
file (Falta de Integridad Académica) and notified to the ORD
Department and the CIAC (Comité de Integridad Académica). Some
activities considered as plagiarism are: copy paste, not making
reference to a quoted author or bibliography, stealing someone's
material and/or ideas and contract cheating, among others.
• The class uses Canvas as an official means of communication
between the teacher and students to publish homework, activities,
instructions and any other information relevant for the class.
Therefore, it is the student's responsibility to check Canvas
platform every day.
14
•Homework is the formal way to practice in order to achieve
our learning goals. Therefore, it has to be handed in
respecting the format determined by the teacher, containing
the students´ information (name, ID number, group, title of the
homework and date) and with its
corresponding bibliography at the end using APA format. The
lack of bibliography will subtract 20% of the homework´s value
and the misuse of the APA format or the lack of identification
information implies a deduction of 10% each.
•Homework is ALL done prior to class
•Homework is only received on its due date and through the
requested platform or forum without exceptions. If you were
absent during the due date of a homework, activities, quizzes
or partial exams, your absence must be justified in order to
receive it or apply what was missed.
•Communication between the students and the teacher will be
held via e-mail. Remind is an unofficial way to speed up
communication but not a mandatory one. Please consider
office hours to establish contact: Monday to Friday between
8:00 am and 4:30 pm with a 24-hour response time on
laboring days only.
•Feedback sessions (revisión) will be programmed after Partial
and Final Evaluations, questions and doubts are solved during
these meetings and corrections are performed in case
needed. Missing a feedback session or revision is a missed
chance to request changes or inquire about the grade either
Partial or Final. Please notice its importance and attend to
them.
•Students must respect the class format protocols as well as
the given sanity protocols if applicable.
