CLIL is...(Ball, Kelly & Clegg, 2019)

  • a term that encompasses a wide range of differing school practices

    • 'hard' CLIL = a form of subject teaching in L2 which highlights academic achievement within the subject and treats language development as important, but as a bonus

So, what is CLIL? What is not CLIL?

Watch the following introductory videos for CLIL. In the first video, Prof. Do Coyle define what CLIL is; and in the second video, Prof. Peeter Mehisto explains what CLIL is and is not.

When watching the videos, take your own study notes.

After that, compare your notes with your partner. Discuss what CLIL is and is not.
