French adjectives not only agree in gender; they agree in number.

If an object is plural, it would need an "s." The only exception is if the adjective ends in "x." Then it is left as is.

They are serious. = Ils sont sérieux.

The children are emotional.

Les enfants sont émotifs.

Some adjectives stay the same for m. and f.

For example: "drôle" but "drôle" would need an "s" if the subject was plural.
