The near future tense

What do we use it for?

The near future tense is used to describe 'what is going to happen'. It is the most common tense in Spanish for describing future plans.

• Voy a comprar una pizza I am going to buy a pizza

• Vas a preparar una ensalada You are going to prepare a salad

• Vamos a comer caramelos We are going to eat sweets

How does it work?

Near future tense

To form the near future, you need three elements:

ir (in the present tense) + a + infinitive
