Used to + infinitive
We use the expression used to + infinitive to talk about things that we did frequently in the past, but don't do now.
I used to run every day, but now I swim every day instead.
She used to work at the mall, but now she works at NASA.
This expression always talks about past events. We can also use it to talk about things that were true in the past, but aren't now.
I used to have a red car, but now my car is blue.

Didn't + use to + infinitive
We can use didn't use to to talk about things that we didn't do frequently in the past, but now do. (Essentially the opposite:)
I didn't use to wake up this early, but now I drive my husband to work.
We also use the auxiliary DID for questions:
Did you use to smoke?

Would + infinitive
We can also (sometimes) use would + infinitive to talk about things we used to do in the past and don't do now.
HOWEVER:
We would spend every Christmas with my grandma when we were little.
Only action verbs
Must always mention when this happened
Tends to be more formal
(Not generally used in questions/negative)
