Lesson 5-1: Ratios and Ratio Tables

2

Objectives:

  • I can write and interpret ratios involving rational numbers.

  • I can use various operations to create tables of equivalent ratios.

  • I can use ratio tables to solve ratio problems.

3

Vocabulary

  • Ratio,

  • Value of a Ratio

  • Equivalent Ratios

  • Ratio Table

4

A ratio table organizes data into columns that are filled with pairs of numbers that have the same ratio or are equivalent. Equivalent ratios express the same relationship between two quantities.

5

Standards: 7.RP.3

  • Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving ratios and percentages using proportional reasoning(e.g., multi-step dimensional analysis, percent increase/decrease, tax)

6

Finding a pattern:

So if we know that 7 x 2 = 14, that means we need can find the first blank by multiplying by the 5 x 2 to get 10.

Same with the second blank. We know 7 x 9 = 63, so we would do 5 x 9 to get 45.
