3:Setting the scene vs. Main events of a story
When I was young my family and I went on vacation every year. We usually took
short trips to places near our house. Sometimes we went to a national park that
had trails, a river, and a big lake for swimming. The weather was usually nice and
we enjoyed the outdoors. I always wore my favorite sweatshirt at night when it was
cooler and we sat around the fire.
One year, when I was twelve, we took a different trip. My parents surprised us with
plane tickets. We left early for the airport and flew to Mexico to see the ruins. Our
hotel was on the beach. We explored the cenotes, walked through the ruins, and
swam in the ocean. One day we went jet skiing. I got a bad sunburn, but the trip
was unforgettable!
