What are past simple regular verbs?

Past simple tense verbs are used to talk about completed actions in the past.

Regular simple past tense verbs are easy to form – you add “ed” to the end of the verb

(e.g. I play guitar –> I played guitar).

Note: Verbs ended in vowel+consonant double the consonant: (e.i. I skip classes -> I skipped

Regular verbs follow the rules of conjugation in English

Regular Verbs Ending with an ‘e’

Sometimes regular verbs end in the letter 'e'. In that case, we just add the letter 'd' to form the simple past.

(e.i. I arrive at school at 6 o'clock ->I arrived at school at 6 o' clock)

Regular Verbs Ending with ‘y’

Verbs that end in the letter 'y' have to change this letter to 'i'. Then, we add the ending 'ed'

(e.i. I copy the lesson from the board -> I copied the lesson from the board.)

Note: To the verbs that end in a vowel + the letter 'y' , we don't change it and add the ending 'ed' as the rule says. (ex: I enjoy -> I enjoyed)

The change of letter is because the pronunciation is easier that way.
