Malcolm X first rose to prominence as a member of the nation of Islam 1940’s. Many of the ideas he
articulated such as race pride and self-defense,became ideological mainstays of the American Black
Power movement that emerged the 1960s
What was Malcolm X’s early life like?
Malcolm Little was born in 1925. He and his siblings were dispersed of relatives among foster homes or
the homes of relatives after their father was killed possibly by white supremacists, and their mother was
institutionalized for mental health issues. Thorough excellent student.Malcolm dropped out of school in the
eighth grade because of the racial discrimination he faced from teachers.
