Subject Noun Question
Some questions in the TOEIC reading section ask you to put the right word in the blank. Sometimes, that word needs to be a noun (명사).
There are several different kinds of nouns:
Noun (명사)
Noun phrase (명사구)
Pronoun (대명사)
Gerund (동명사)
Infinitive (to부정사)
Noun Clause (명사절)

Tips for Choosing Nouns
Noun (명사)
Look for a simple noun (singular or plural) - ends in ~tion, ~sion, ~ment, ~ant
"Applications are available online from July 1."
Noun phrase (명사구)
Sometimes, this is a simple noun plus an adjective
"A special luncheon will be held in honor of the advertising team."
Pronoun (대명사)
Pay attention to the main subject!
"Team A is planning their next staff meeting in July."

Tips for Choosing Nouns
Gerund (동명사)
A noun that ends in "-ing"
"Conducting a survey is the best way to find out about your customers."
Infinitive (to부정사)
Always begins with "to" as in "to study"
"To increase employee productivity is the aim of the new program."
Noun Clause (명사절)
A certain phrase or words attached to a noun
"What the builder likes about this contract is the early completion bonus."

Singular vs. Plural Nouns
Nouns that are countable singular will almost always have the following words
The -> "The paper was due last night."
A/an -> "A contest will be held tomorrow."
Nouns that are plural do not need articles such as "the, a, an." "The" can be used if it is a specific group.
"Saturdays are relaxing."
The -> "The boys were very competitive."
Watch for the signs of a plural or singular noun!

When you see a structure like "it is important that..." or "it is important..." followed by other information, it may be an infinitive noun (to부정사구)

There are 12 verb tenses, but they can be separated into three categories: past, present, and future.

Look for clues, like time words: last week, tomorrow, now...

Gerund versus Verb
Sometimes, a verb ends in -ing. So how do you know the difference?
Gerund: only has the -ing verb.
Verb: am/is/are/was/were + -ing word
Going to the store is fun. = gerund
I am going to the store. = verb
