In Italian, there are 7 forms of the word "the":

il, lo, la, l', i, gli, le

In order to figure out with one to use, we first need to know if a word is masculine or feminine.

We also need to know if a word is singular or plural.

Most masculine words in Italian end in -o, and most feminine words in Italian end in -a.

Some words end in -e and can either masculine or feminine, but there are some rules to help us figure it out.

​If a masculine word starts with a s+consonant (impure s), z, gn, ps, or y, the form lo is used.

The plural form with these words is gli.

If a word doesn't use lo or l', the form il is used instead.

The plural form used with any of these words is i.

Piacere means "to like"!

Use the form Mi piace when you are talking about liking doing something or liking a singular thing.
