  • The 10 northern tribes rebelled against the government in Jerusalem once King Solomon died.

  • The assyrians spread fear throughout the region

  • They conquered people, made them pay tribute and destroyed towns, burned estates and took valuable goods if tribute was not paid.

  • Conquered people was then forced to move and make new settlements

  • The Assyrians captured the Kingdom of Isreal and its capital at Samaria trying for absolute control when they refused to pay tribute.

  • Adopted many of the Israelites religious beliefs

  • This made them have little in common with the Israelites
