Most teachers say:
.
"these are my target vocabulary items, please memorize them."
&
However,
Is it that easy to see and memorize new words?
Are there any strategies to memorize new words?
What are your suggestions?
LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE WORD LIST TOGETHER...
3
1.work on the lıst & spend some tıme
No matter what strategy you use, you need to spend some time to internalize the words.
If you like listing words by handwriting, use a vocabulary log with colorful pens (aka a notebook)
If you spend more time on your computer, use Word Document, OneNote (Ctrl + F helps a lot to find the words you have listed)
If you like learning words in a game format, use Quizlet. (You can create your own lists or you can use others' lists)

2.CATEGORIZE YOUR WORDS IN GROUPS
Is it a noun? Is it a phrasal verb? Write the target word according to the word family.
You can also group the words you learn according to a theme such as "fruit and vegetables" or "catching up"
Does it have a negative connotation or a positive connotation? You can put a '-' or '+' next to the target words.
You must revise the words in a weekly fashion.
5
3.CONTEXTUALIZE YOUR WORDS
As stated before, you need to revise the vocabulary items you have learned regularly.
If you want to save them into the long-term memory, you can contextualize your words. That is, you can write a story by using them. This way will definitely help you learn them by heart!

"In this class, we met three weeks ago. We got on really well. Then we got to know each other. We wanted to spend time together, so we wanted to hang out after school. We met up with the friends who live in Istanbul, but it was hard to see each other every day because we lived far away from each other. That’s why we tried to catch up with each other thanks to social media. We are planning to get together as the whole class at the end of the term. I hope we keep up with each other in the following years! I don't want to lose touch with my Prep classmates!"
Here is my story on 3B: Catching up
*Please observe which prepositions are used
