Cellular Respiration
SC.8.L.18.2 Describe and investigate how cellular respiration breaks down food to provide energy and releases carbon dioxide. (DOK 3)
2
What is Cellular Respiration?
Cellular respiration is a process that happens inside every living cell, including the cells in your body. It's a way for cells to get energy from the food they eat. During cellular respiration, cells break down glucose, a type of sugar, to release energy. This energy is then used by the cell for things like moving, growing, and dividing. Carbon dioxide and water are also produced during this process. Overall, cellular respiration is a crucial process for all living organisms, including humans. Without it, our cells wouldn't have the energy they need to function properly.
