Chamber music is literally music that can be played in a chamber ( a small room) so music for small ensembles (groups). There is usually one player to each part ( unlike in Orchestras)

A Sonata is either

A Piece for a solo instrument and accompaniment written in the Baroque, Classical Romantic period or Twentieth century

OR

A Piece for Solo Piano written in the Classical period, Romantic or Twentieth Century

You will also see that there is an instrumental grouping called a Trio Sonata in the Baroque period.
