Les métiers et être

By Timothy Taylor

87

media

The verb être (to be) is used to tell what someone does for a job, as well as, their emotions.

Hamlet is a prince and he is reflective.

Hamlet est prince et il est réfléchant.

"Être"

or not "Être"

88

To express emotions in French you use the verb "être" (which means "to be"

Il est triste. (He is sad)

Il est inquiet. (He is worried)

Picture from "The Sweater".

89

To say someone's job in French, you also use the verb "to be".

Il est enseignant. (He is a teacher)

Elle est étudiante. (She is a student)

Notice that in French there isn't a word between the verb and the job.

Some text here about the topic of discussion.

Elle est une enseignante.

2

Elle est une enseignant.

3
