Case report

• Two year old presented with difficulty eating in the past 24 hours.

• Developed a fever the night before without any signs of the flu.

• After 12 hours, mom noticed papules on the hand and foot.

• Intraoral examination revealed reddish lesions 2mm in diameter on the hard palate.

• No other lesions were present intraorally.

Lesions on the third day

• 35 year old male complained of a fever with chills, malaise, and a sore throat one day before cutaneous symptoms started.

• Intraoral examination revealed erythematous papulovesicular lesions on the posterior oropharyngeal structures.

• Blood tests showed no abnormalities except for elevated C-reactive protein count.

The patient was diagnosed with HFMD based on characteristic clinical manifestations, positive results of enterovirus PCR analysis, molecular typing for Coxsackievirus A6 and histological findings.
