What is Korean
Mythology?

Korean myths and legends derive from areas of North and South Korea, and have
become part of Korean culture. They are a combination of myths and influences
from various religions. The earliest written records of these myths were formed in
the 12th century, though were orally told much before then.

귀신 Gwisin (Ghosts)

Gwisin

●Similar to ghosts in other cultures

●In Korean culture they are typically females
with long black hair and white funeral clothes.

●Typically have unfinished business or revenge

●May be spotted in abandoned places and
throw objects to get attention

구미호 Gumiho (Nine-tailed fox)

Gumiho

●The creature is fox-like but has the ability to
transform into a beautiful girl, to lure men
close enough to eat their livers

●If the creature is able to refrain from eating
human flesh for 1,000 days, it can stay human
