Some Non Communicable Diseases are:

  • Chronic- are present continuously on and off over a long period of time. Example: Asthma, Diabetes...

  • Degenerative- cause a further breakdown in body cells, tissues and organs as they progress. Example: Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis...

Noncommunicable diseases can have many causes.

  • congenital disorders- present when a baby is born (Down Syndrome)

  • congenital defect- during pregnancy (Heart Defect)

  • heredity- passing traits from parents to their biological children (Down Syndrome)

  • use and abuse any drugs

  • eat unhealthy

  • no practice physical activity
