Vocabulary List for today:

4

Figurative language is a way of using words to express ideas in a more creative and imaginative way. We use it to describe something by comparing it to something else, rather than saying it directly. Literal language, on the other hand, is when we say exactly what we mean.

When we say 'It's raining cats and dogs,' we are using figurative language because we don't literally mean that cats and dogs are falling from the sky.
