Придаточные определительные предложения

[I like children] (who work hard)

(who work hard) - это и есть придаточное определительное предложение

[I like children] (who work hard)

Почему придаточное? - потому что зависит от главного предложения (к нему можно задать вопрос

Я люблю детей - каких? - которые усердно работают

[I like children] (who work hard)

Почему определительное? - потому что, как и определение, отвечает на вопрос "какой?".

А ещё, потому что даёт определение существительному, за которым оно стоит. Без этого предложения будет непонятно, какие дети мне нравятся.

Придаточное определительное предложение присоединяется с помощью следующих союзов:

who / that / which - который

whose - чей

where - где, куда,

why - почему

when - когда

who / that - используем для людей

which / that - для неодушевленных предметов и животных

Союзы who/that/which могут выполнять роль подлежащего или дополнения. Это легко определить (и очень важно)

[I like children] (who work hard)

Если после союза who/that/which сразу идет глагол (сказуемое), то наш союз является подлежащим:

I like boys who earn a lot.

Earn - это сказуемое. Значит who является подлежащим.

[I liked the film] (which we watched)

Если после союза who/that/which идет существительное / местоимение, и лишь потом глагол (сказуемое), то наш союз является дополнением:

I have read the book that you recommended.

You - подлежащее, recommended - сказуемое.

Значит, who не может быть подлежащим, оно является дополнением

А зачем нам это знать?

Дело в том, что если союз who/that/which является дополнением, то его можно (и нужно) выбросить из предложения.

Do you remember the boy I showed you yesterday?

(вместо the boy who)

Если союз who/that/which является дополнением, то его можно использовать с предлогом. В таком случае предлог лучше задвинуть в конец предложения, а союз who/that/which - выбросить

Вместо: Do you remember the book about which I told you?

Строим: Do you remember the book I told you about?
