Comparing Numbers
First we compare Number of digits.
The number with more digits is greater.
Example: Compare 1374 and 999
1374 > 999 as 1374 has 4 digits and 999 has 3 digits
4
Comparing Numbers
If number of digits are same, we compare the digit having the highest place.
Example: Compare 7234 and 6798
7234 > 6798 as 7 > 6
5
Multiple Choice
Which among the given numbers is the smallest number?
1020
1023
1223
1230
6
Explanation
Out of the numbers 1020, 1023, 1223, 1230
Thousands place of all these numbers are same
So we will compare hundreds place
In numbers 1020 and 1023 hundreds place is smaller than other two
numbers
Now we will compare these two numbers
In 1020 and 1023, thousands, hundreds and tens places are same
Now comparing ones place
1020 < 1023

Ascending and
Descending Order Of Larger
Numbers
8
Ascending Order
Numbers are said to be in ascending order
if they are arranged from the smallest to the largest number
Example:
4321, 4962, 7433, 7494, 8856
are in ascending order
9
Descending Order
Numbers are said to be in descending order
if they are arranged from the largest to the smallest number
Example:
4736, 4708, 3239, 2325, 1867
are in descending order
10
Multiple Choice
Which among these is the correct arrangement in descending order:
1452, 1245, 2451, 2453
2453, 2451, 1452, 1245
2453, 2451, 1245, 1452
2451, 1452, 2453, 1245
2451, 2453, 1452, 1245
11
Explanation
In descending order, we write from greatest number
to smallest number
So, the correct descending order is:
2453, 2451, 1452, 1245
12
Ascending and Descending order
(Mind Map)
Descending order means to arrange the number from bigger to smaller.
For example: 5945, 5034, 5000

Count the
digits
If the number
of digits are
same
If the number
of digits are
different
Number with more
digits are bigger.
For example:
5945 > 534
Ascending order means to arrange the number from smaller to bigger.
For example: 4083, 4156, 5243
Compare the digits from the extreme left until unequal.
For example: 4328 < 4399

Multiple Choice
How many even numbers lie between 1 and 20?
11
10
20
1
15
Explanation
There are 5 even numbers between each set of ten numbers
So, from 1 to 10 , there are 5 even numbers
From 11 to 20, there are 5 even numbers
21 is an odd number
So, total even numbers are 5 + 5 = 10
16
Multiple Choice
The salary of four persons is given in the options. Which is the minimum amount of salary?
र 7830
र 8873
र 7738
र 8730
17
Explanation
We have the numbers: 7830, 7738, 8873, 8730
Comparing thousands place of all these numbers, we get, 7830 and 7738 are smaller than rest two
So we will compare hundred's place of 7830 and 7738
In numbers 7738, hundreds place digit is smaller than that of 7830
So, 7738 < 7830
Hence, minimum salary amount is र 7738
18
Multiple Choice
Find the greatest and the smallest numbers from the given list of numbers:
4823, 8234, 1005, 4237, 4037
8234, 4823
8234, 1005
1005, 4237
4823, 4037
19
Explanation
8234 has 8 at the thousands place, the greatest amongst the
thousands place of other numbers
So, 8234 is the greatest
Similarly, 1005 is the smallest out of 4823, 1005, 4237, 4037
20
Multiple Choice
If we interchange the tens and ones place digits in the numbers given in options, which number will be an odd number?
7706
6724
2217
6700
21
Explanation
Numbers are 7706, 6724, 6700, 2217
If we interchange the tens and ones place digit of the following numbers, we get, 7760, 6742, 6700, 2271
7760, 6742, 6700 have even numbers at ones places, so they are even.
2271 has odd digit in ones place, so 2271 is an odd number

Or, D < C < B < A
Population of town A had maximum
24
Multiple Choice
Which among the following numbers is an even number and is more than 4010?
4008
4010
4013
4012
25
Explanation
Numbers given in options are 4008, 4010, 4013 and 4012
Here, 4013 > 4010 but is not an even number
Only the even number 4012 is more than 4010
26
Multiple Choice
In a car race, speeds of four cars are given below. Which among these is the correct descending order of the speeds?
148 km/h, 107 km/h, 111km/h, 100km/h
148 km/h, 111km/h, 107 km/h, 100km/h
111 km/h, 107 km/h, 148 km/h, 100km/h
100km/h, 107 km/h, 111km/h, 148 km/h
27
Explanation
On comparing the speeds of the cars and writing the speeds from highest to lowest, we have:
148 km/h, 111 km/h, 107 km/h, 100 km/h
is the correct descending order
28
Dropdown
29
Explanation
Odd numbers ends with 1,3,5,7,9
3641 and 4007 ends with digit 1 and 7
respectively
So, they are odd numbers
3641 < 4000
4007 > 4000
So, answer is 3641
