Il Present Continuous si forma con:
presente del verbo be + forma in -ing del verbo principale

La forma in -ing si costruisce aggiungendo -ing alla forma base del verbo
walk => walking / play => playing
Ci sono alcune variazioni ortografiche. Se il verbo termina in:
La forma in -ing
-e muta ==> la -e cade e si aggiunge -ing
una sola vocale + consonante, ed è:
un verbo di una sillaba
un verbo di due sillabe con l'accento su ultima sillaba
- l preceduta da una sola vocale ==>
ie ==>
make => making / have => having
la consonante finale raddoppia + -ing
stop => stopping
begin => beginning
raddoppia la -l + -ing travel => travelling
-ie cambia in -y lie => lying
