Solving Inequalites
3
Pay close attention to the slope and intercept, as they will tel the story of the line(s) and their intersection.
Systems of Equations
4
What is a system of linear equations?
-A systems of linear equations is a set of two or more linear equations in the same variables;
-A systems of linear equations must be solved at the same time, or simultaneously;
-A systems of linear equations can have one of three types of solutions{0, 1, or infinite}.
Solutions can be found through Elimination, Substitution, Or Graphing
5
Solve one equation for the x or y variable.
Substitution that solution into the other equation for the variable that you solved for (either x or y)
Solve the new equation for the variable to get a numerical answer.
Take the numerical answer and substitute it back into either equation to solve for the remaining variable.
Put your answers into an x and y coordinate.
Substitution
6
Graph both equations on the coordinate grid.
You can use the slope and y-intercept of each equation to graph them on the grid.
Once both equations are graphed, you need to find the point of intersection (where the equations cross).
The point of intersection will be an x and y coordinate and it will also be your solution.
