Organism Identification Guide

Format: Any Group Size: 1-2

DIRECTIONS:

Create an Organism Identification Guide with the following pages/sections/slides:

Animalia / Plantae / Fungi / Protista / Eubacteria / Archaea

For each organism type, include the following:

  1. Domain (Eukaryotic or Prokaryotic? How do you know?)

  2. Cell Number (Unicellular or Multicellular or Either)

  3. Obtaining Energy (Autotroph, Heterotroph, or Either)

  4. Any other characteristics that would help identify the cell, such as materials in the cell wall.

    (Eubacteria and Archaea are both unicellular prokaryotes; how can they be differentiated?)

    (Fungi and Animalia both have multicellular heterotrophs; how can they be differentiated?)

  5. Include images and example organisms.

What are some structures or capabilities that each of the six kingdoms have in common?

What do viruses lack when compared to these cell types?
