Today's Lesson: Sample Space

Vocabulary:
A sample space lists all the possible outcomes of an event.
An outcome is the result of something that could or did happen.
A group or set of one or more desired outcomes is called an event.
A simple event is an event in which only one outcome can occur.
Probability is the likelihood that an event will occur. Probability can be described using numbers (fractions, decimals, and percent) or words ranging from impossible to certain.
The likelihood that an event will occur can be described in different ways, ranging from impossible, to equally likely, to certain.

You do:
A bag contains 10 red, 7 yellow, and 4 green marbles. A marble will be
chosen at random and the color is recorded.
Determine the sample space.
16
It is possible to get the following outcomes when choosing one random marble.
Sample Space = {Red, Yellow, Green}
Thus there are 21 total possible outcomes.
