PBIL:

Suppose that you wish to travel by automobile to your favorite vacation spot. You
travel at a constant speed of 55 miles per hour. How many hours will it take you to
travel 440 miles?

Vocab:

Formula: a rule that uses symbols to relate quantities.

d= r x t

(distance = rate x time)

Notes:

Jonathan is flying from LA to Hawaii. If the flight travels at a constant speed of 4 hours and
covers 1,716 miles, what is the constant speed of the airplane?

Step 1: use the formula and substitute the values.

d=rxt

1,716 miles= r x 4

Step 2: Solve for the missing variable.
