Nuts and bolts

What are they?
Bolts are threaded fasteners with external male threads. They mate with
nuts, which have female – meaning, internal – threads

What do they look like?

How do they work?
the bolt and nut grip the materials being fastened, creating
a bolt joint, and the nut also prevents axial movement

What tools are needed?
The tools used for nuts and bolts are wrenches. Bolt cutters can be used for
whenever a bolt or nut needs to be cut

Nuts and bolts

Example: The nut is
screwed around the
threading on the
bolt to fasten it

Other important info: -There are many different types of nuts and bolts
-Nuts and bolts are held together by the combination of friction of their
heads

Pins

What are they?
Pins are used within manufacturing and other places to fix
collars and pulleys to shafts.

What do they look like?

How do they work?
Most pins are slid into a hole and
then bent to stay in place

What tools are needed?
Plyers
Your Hands

Nails

What are they?
A thin metal pole that is sharp at one end and flattened at the other end and is
used for attaching one or more objects to each other
What do they look like?

How do they work?
Nails are just friction fit. When you
drive a nail in it just pushes the
material in front of it to the sides
and scoots through.

What tools are needed?
The tools needed for nails is just a hammer, but
Alternatively you could use a nail gun
