​Linking Verbs

​英文句子的基本組成三元素：

S(=subject 主詞)

V(=verb 動詞)

O(=object 受詞)

​My brother ate an apple. 我哥哥 吃了 一顆蘋果 。

​My brother was a businessman. 我哥哥 以前是 一位商人。

My brother was tall and rich. 我哥哥 以前(是) 又高又有錢。

was 後面可以接 名詞 也可以接 形容詞

連綴動詞

​定義：連綴動詞是用來連接主詞和主詞補語的動詞。連綴動詞常接形容詞或名詞當作主詞補語，用來補充說明 主詞的 狀態，如 be 動詞就是連綴動詞的一種。
