Spelling

the suffix -ous and -ion

A suffix is added at the end of a base word.

This changes the MEANING and sometimes the TYPE of word (noun, verb, adjective, adverb)

  • +ous to a word ending with 'e', drop the 'e'.

  • +ous to a word ending in 'y', replace the 'y' with 'i'.

  • +ous to a word that ends with 'our', 'our' becomes 'or', then add -ous..
