❏ The Past Participle is a verb form used in a large number of

situations.

❏ Some verb tenses, especially the “Perfect Tenses” (Present, Past

and Future), are formed with this structure.

❏ Many verbs in the Past Participle can be used like an adjective in

front of a noun. Example: “broken leg”.

❏ The Past Participle is also used to form the Passive Voice.
❏ Language Note: The Past Participle is also known as

Perfect Participle.

(Past Participle form of “to break”).

❏ As we have already learned, the Past Participle and the Simple Past

forms of regular verbs are the same. However, the Past Participle
and the Simple Past forms of some irregular verbs are very
different.
