Learning what rhyming is!

Rhyming is when a word rhymes with another word. A word rhymes with another word when the end of both words have the same sound. The spelling can be different but they should make the same sound!
For example, the words
line,
time,
and mine
all rhyme!
These words all make
the /i/ sound!

Rhyming can be really fun! Do you have a favorite song? Do you have a favorite poem?
Songs can have rhyming in it!
This is a verse from Let It Go from Frozen!
THE SNOW GLOWS WHITE
ON THE MOUNTAIN TONIGHT
NOT A FOOTPRINT TO BE SEEN
A KINGDOM OF ISOLATION
AND IT LOOKS LIKE I'M THE QUEEN
What does rhythm mean? Rhythm means the beat of a song! You can also call it the tune of the song. A song can be catchy if it has a good rhythm!

Pretend that you are writing a song! Make a pretend verse from your song that has rhyming words. (Verses are like paragraphs of a song, like the one we saw before.) Make sure your verse has at least four lines!

Poems are like stories, but they have different ways of telling them. Sometimes, they are not only stories, but opinions and ideas. Many cultures from around the world have different ways of writing poems. Poems can be funny, sad, happy, scary, and more! Some poems rhyme, and some don't!
