52. 1st Grade SRR: Skit Day

It is skit day! Moms and dads step in with passes for Red Hen. Miss Tan chats with them. Kids stack passes in a box.

Two classes come in. The kids sit on a big rug

“I am glad you came,” Miss Tan tells them. “This skit is Red Hen. This class did such good work on it. The kids did their jobs with skill. Let us clap for them.”

Moms, dads, and kids clap.

Before Red Hen starts, Glen yells “My flaps came off!” but Liz has them.

Glen sticks them back on his glasses.

Glen is glad.

Glen is Dog. Ann is Red Hen. Nell is Cat. Liz checks the set

Red Hen sat in her big box. Dog sat up in his block bed. Cat got up on the thick rugs. A hush fell.

Miss Tan nods. Red Hen starts.

“Plums! Big plums!” clucks Ann.

“Who will pick big plums with me?”

“Not I!” yips Glen.

“Not I!” hisses Nell.

“Cluck, cluck! Who will make plum jam with me?” Ann clucks.

“Not I!” yips Glen.

“Not I!” hisses Nell.

Red Hen is still quick to let them have plum jam. Red Hen tells Cat and Dog that she likes them.

“Let us pick plums with Red Hen, Dog!” said Cat. People clap.
