Topics

  • Plotting

  • Coordinates

  • Gradient

  • Y - Intercept

  • Direction

  • Quardrants

3

Coordinates Geometry

The y axis is the vertical line going from top to bottom

The x axis is the horizontal line going from right to left

4

Coordinates Geometry

The y and x axes (plural) make four quardrants which are either negative or positive - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

1st being positive

2nd having the x axis negative and the y axis postive

5

Coordinates Geometry

3rd having both axes be negative

4th having the x axis be positive and the y axis be negative

A point's coordinate are listed as (x,y)

6

Gradient

Gradient = y2 - y1/ x2 - x1

The gradient is the slope of the line and can also be calculated by rise/run

The origin of a graph is (0,0)

7

Coordinate Geometry

A line which is horizontal to the x axis throughout will always have a gradient of 0.

The y intercept of a graph is the point at which the line intercepts/cuts the y axis. (same for the x - intercept which you wont come across often)
