What is a Goal?

“ The object of a person's ambition
or effort; an aim or desired result”

Why Set Goals?

“Can you tell me please which way I ought to go from here?” said Alice

“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to” said the Cat

“I don’t much care where” said Alice

“Then it doesn't matter which way you walk” said the Cat

Setting Goals

• Goals can either be fixed or flexible
• Most goals are fixed as it allows for outcomes that can be measured.

• Goals should be realistic - setting unrealistic goals can have an impact.

• Goals should always SMART
• Is your goal SPECIFIC?
• Is your goal MEASURABLE?
• Is your goal ACHIEVABLE?
• Is your goal RELEVANT?
• Is your goal TIMEBOUND? (sometimes also known as timely)
