A prefix is a group of letters that comes at the BEGINNING of a word and changes its meaning.
Pre-: Before (examples: preorder, preview)
Re-: To do again (examples: reuse, rebuild)
Un-: To not be (examples: unlike, unable)
Ex-: Out of or away from (examples: exhale, external)
Dis-: not, opposite (examples: disrespect, disorder)
Mis-: bad, wrong (examples: misplace, mistreat)
Non-: not (examples: nonfiction, nonverbal)

A suffix is a group of letters that comes at the END of a word and changes its meaning.
-ly: turns a word into an ADVERB, a word that describes an action (examples: quietly, easily)
-ful: to have a lot of something (examples: hateful, hopeful)
-less: to have little or none of something (examples: painless, restless)
-able: having the ability or quality of something (examples: comfortable, portable)
