What is a monologue?
  • A monologue is a long speech that expresses the thoughts and feelings of a single character. In a monologue, the character is talking out loud, or ‘thinking out loud’ to themselves.

  • Monologues are always written in first person

  • When you write your monologue, you should include a character name in bold so we know who is speaking, and stage directions written in brackets.
