User Experience for Programmers

UX is the study of how users interact with products and programs. It's how we design effective things for people to use.

​What is User Experience? (UX)

​There is a way we think when we're considering usability for UX. It's fairly simple, and entirely possible for anyone to learn.

Consider the System

• What does the user want?

• What problem will your program solve for them?

​

​Identify Need

• Who will use it?

• What will they use it for?

• Where will they use it?

• What device will they use it on?

​

​Context of Use

• What will the program need in order to work?

• What does it need from the users?

• How can we make sure the users don't break the program?

​

​Requirements

• Come up with the program flow

• Design your testing

​

Create Solutions

• Time to code the program!

​

Make it!

• Does the program solve the problem?

• What do the users like/not like?

• How can we improve the program?

Evaluate

Good UX designers recognize that repeating their cycle is incredibly important for making better programs.
