Should students be allowed to walk to school?  Parents are often worried about their children walking to school and therefore may not encouraged them to do so. However, if they are aware of the benefits, will they encourage their children to walk to school? Walking to school is economical, help students to gain some exercise while at the same time help protect the environment.

Many parents today discourage their children from walking to school. According to them it is dangerous. Furthermore, they fear their children will be too tired to study when they reach school. Studies however have shown that, walking to school has advantages that far outweigh the disadvantages. Walking to school is economical, help students to gain some exercise while at the same time help protect the environment.

I still remember the day when I first walked to school. It was raining and I was drenched from head to toe. When I reached school, I was shivering and was no longer excited about learning in school. From that day onwards, I promised myself never to walk to school again. Walking to school is dangerous, unhealthy and a complete waste of time.

I could still remember the first time I walked to school. Up until then, I had been taking the school bus. But on that fateful day, the bus driver called to inform my mother, the bus had broken down. I had no choice but to walk to school. Despite so, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and vowed from that day onwards to just walk to school and never to take the bus. I discovered on that day, walking to school is economical, helps me to gain some exercise while at the same time help protect the environment.

Less and less students walk to school. Perhaps, parents should reconsider encouraging their children to walk to school again because of the benefits that come with it.
