Lỗi: - Dummy subject: dùng chủ ngữ giả “it” ở đầu câu. Và thường cách dùng này sẽ đi với “said” chứ không phải “told”

- The passive: học sinh hay dịch từ “bị chết” trong tiếng Việt sang tiếng Anh

Lỗi:- Modal verbs: may/might/could + V nguyên thể để dự đoán về khả năng ở hiện tại/tương lai

- “spread” vừa là nội động từ, vừa là ngoại động từ và dạng P2 vẫn là “spread”

Sửa câu: I have three daughters. My daughter/the one (who is) living in France will be married next week.

Lỗi: - Relative clause: Ta chỉ sử dụng dấu phẩy trong trường hợp đã xác định Daughter nào và ta muốn đưa thông tin bổ sung. Trong trường hợp này người nói có 3 đứa con gái, và chưa rõ người con gái nào chưa được nhắc đến => Bỏ dấu phẩy 

- “The one (who is) living in France” => Thể rút gọn

Sửa câu: The students I teach all come from different backgrounds
Lỗi: - S-V agreement: “come” chia theo “students”

- Lỗi article: bỏ “the”

- Plural/singular: thêm số nhiều ở “backgrounds”

Sửa câu: The chef has a new recipe and his/the cakes taste good. These cakes/they have become the restaurant's specials.

Lỗi: - Possessive: thêm “his”

- Adj/adv: một số động từ chỉ cảm giác như taste, look, sound, … + tính từ thay vì trạng từ

- Determiner: thêm từ hạn định “these”

- S-V agreement: “have” chia theo “cakes”

9. Although I didn’t spend much time studying for the test, but I passed it anyway. With that number of preparation, I could fail.

- Adj/adv: dạng trạng từ của “late” vẫn giữ nguyên. Nếu đổi thành “lately” sẽ mang một nghĩa khác (gần đây)

- Plural/singular: thêm số nhiều vào “meetings”

- Advice không đếm được, nếu muốn đếm có thể dùng “pieces of advice”

Sửa: Although I didn’t spend much time studying for the test, I passed it anyway. With that amount of preparation, I could have failed.

Lỗi: - “Although” không đi cùng “but”

- “Preparation” không đếm được => dùng “amount”

- Conditional: câu điều kiện loại 3 => could have failed

Linking

Why use signposting?

Like a signpost by the road that tells you where you are going, signposting
in a presentation tells the listener what is coming next.

Signposting helps to improve your writing, listening and speaking

•Signposting shows the structure of your writing

•Signposting helps you predict what speaker say next

•Signposting helps you inform listeners what you’re going to say next

Why use signposting?

Imagine that you need to write a short essay or an article comparing the
advantages and disadvantages of large and small companies.

The benefits of working in a large company are… For example…

On the other hand, large companies can be… An example is…

A small company is good for… For instance…

However, many small companies… A good example is…

In conclusion…

=> Signposting phrases make the structure clear to the reader. We can
already see that the article will be easy to understand, no matter what the
points are.
