Match

Match the following prefixes with the correct units:

kilograms

millimeters

centiliters

hectograms

decimeters

kg

mm

cL

hg

dm

28

Converting between prefixes...

Remember the acronym:
King Henry Dead By Drinking Chocolate Milk

As you move left and right between the prefixes, your decimal will also move left and right in the number. Going from big prefixes to small prefixes will make the number BIGGER!

EXAMPLE: 1.0 kilograms (kg) = ?? milligrams (mg)
(decimal moving to the right... add zeros as you need to!)
1.0 kg --> 1000000.0 mg (six zeros added behind the one)

Converting between prefixes...

Remember the acronym:

King Henry Dead By Drinking Chocolate Milk

As you move left and right between the prefixes, your decimal will also move left and right in the number. Going from small prefixes to big prefixes will make the number SMALLER!

EXAMPLE: 1.0 milligrams (mg) = ?? kilograms (kg)
(decimal moving to the left... add zeros as you need to!)
1.0 mg --> 0.000001 kg (five zeros added in front of the one)
