An interjection is an abrupt remark or exclamation that is made as an aside or interruption.
Interjections are emotions or reactions inserted into a sentence. They are common in everyday language, informal writing, and dialogue, but are not often found in formal writing.
5
Usually, interjections are punctuated with an exclamation point and are set off separately from the rest of the sentence.
Ex. Wow! Look what I did.
Ex. Hey! Stop copying my answer.
6
Interjections are to be used sparingly. If interjections are overused, they will lose their effect.
