Computer networks have many different types

LAN(LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
LAN is connection of computers and devices located near to each other using network cables.

For example: Computer Science Lab, a whole building or an office

WLAN(WIRELESS LOCAL AREA NETWORK)
WLAN is connection of computers and devices located near to each other using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection.

MAN (METROPOLITAN AREA NETWORK)
A metropolitan area network is a network that spans across a large campus or a city. The network consists of various buildings interconnected through wireless or fiber optic backbones

PAN (PERSONAL AREA NETWORK)
A personal area network is a network that connects devices, such as mice, keyboards, printers, smartphone, and tablets within the range of an individual person. All of these devices are dedicated to a single host and are most often connected with Bluetooth technology.
