Case is the form that a noun or pronoun takes to show its relationship to other words in a sentence.

NOMINATIVE: I, you, he, she, it we, they
OBJECTIVE: me, you, him, her, it, us, them
POSSESSIVE: my, mine, your, yours, his, her, hers, its, our, ours, their, theirs

The Possessive Case

The possessive pronouns mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, and theirs are used as parts of a sentence in the same ways in which the pronouns in the nominative and the objectice cases are used.

Richard and Mark brought theirs with them.
Mother gave ours a quick proofereading last night.

The Possessive Case

The possessive pronouns my, your, his, her, its, our, and their are used as adjectives before nouns.
