Remainder

Sometimes, when you divide, you will have a reminder.

A remainder is whatever is leftover after you split up your dividend evenly as much as possible.

You can give the remaining chicken nugget to Mr. Smallwood!

If we divide 7 chicken nuggets between two people (7 ÷ 2), each person will get 3 and there will be a remainder of 1 chicken nugget.

30 is a multiple of 3, so there will not be a remainder. Each group will get 10.

Is your dividend a multiple of the divider?

Use Multiples or Skip Counting.

Quick Check
