Phoenicians and Hebrews

Se instalaron en los 2000 a.C. en las costas actual del Líbano.
Su ubicación entre montañas y mar los condujo al mar mediterráneo y llegaron a ser expertos navegantes y comerciantes.

They were installed in 2000 BC. on the current coasts of Lebanon. Their location between mountains and sea led them to the Mediterranean Sea and they became expert navigators and traders.

Los fenicios construyeron barcos resistentes y desarrollaron técnicas de navegación. Esto les permitió vender telas, aceites, madera, marfil y comprar metales.

The Phoenicians built strong ships and developed navigation techniques. This allowed them to sell cloth, oils, wood, ivory and buy metals

In 1300 BC. C. the Phoenicians established a simple writing system to carry out their commercial activities. Then they invented the alphabet, which is based on 20 very simple signs.

En el 1300 a. C. los fenicios establecieron un sistema de escritura simple para poder realizar sus actividades comerciales. Entonces inventaron el alfabeto, que está basado en 20 signos muy sencillos.

The Hebrew people

The Hebrews lived in Israel. In the year 1,000 B.C. The Hebrew tribes of farmers and shepherds were unified under a kingdom ruled by King David. This king conquered Jerusalem. Jerusalem became the capital of the kingdom.

The main characteristic of the Hebrew people is their religion. The Judaism. First monotheistic religion (Believes in one God).

The Hebrews called their God Yahweh. Judaism was the basis of other religions such as Christianity and Islam.

La principal característica del pueblo hebreo es su religión. El judaísmo. Primera religión monoteísta (Cree en un solo Dios).

Los hebreos llamaban a su Dios Yahvé.
El judaísmo fue la base de otras religiones como: el cristianismo y el islam.
